My primary doctor gave me Percocet 4 times a day, for pain from herniated disks and loose screw on my artificial knee. I do have an appointment with a knee surgeon, but my primary doctor suggested that I need pain management medication for my back.

I had my first outbreak and was diagnosed with genital herpes back in November 2006. I got incredibly ill, fevers as high as 104, and felt like I had a bad urinary tract infection. I had blisters show up first on my labia, then completely broken out inside my girl parts, all over inside and out right up my buttock cleft and around the anus. I was deathly ill. My husband and I were using protection and I still got it. I'm now having another bad one. Antiviral medicines helped so much, and one month later I found out I was pregnant. But he is now 12 and healthy as an ox, and I have a daughter too.

Well, I had pain running from my back down to my ankle, so I had x-rays and I had a cyst in the lower right hip. I had the injection, did therapy, and been taking back medicine that don't work. Now I can hardly walk or do house work, the only thing I found that helped was lying down. I will be walking, standing and fixing dinner, and I have to find a seat real fast because I will be in so much pain.

I have ovarian remnant syndrome, endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. I see a pain specialist on October 9th. I hope something can be done because I can't live like this. I cry on my way upstairs to my room from my couch or from my couch to the bathroom. My kids deserve a better life.

I currently suffer from constant low back pain and a stabbing sensation in the middle of my back on the left and right. My current Primary doctor sent me off for an MRI and magically nothing strange showed up even though my x-ray from 2 years earlier showed I had severe arthritis. I current take Norco 10/325, muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory drugs 2 times a day but it only takes the edge off for about 2 hours or so. I wish doctors would take younger patients more seriously and try to help me.

My pain started out young with scoliosis and being in an accident at 17. I had as a result, fractured 2 vertebrae, 4 broken ribs and contused kidneys. I was assaulted and almost lost my life. Face reconstruction that required several titanium plates, bolts, you name it, is in me. One of my nasal cavities was crushed, so I get a lot of infections. I have been on every medication out there. The only medication that really makes me feel like I am a normal person is methadone. Not only is it cheap it works! I guess everyone has something that agrees with their body. In the morning I still feel like I was hit by a train, but I take my medicines and lie down and they start to work, some bad days where I am in pain because of barometric pressure and some days I can get up and start my day. It has really helped me be a person who can work and be alert, unlike the other medicines I tried, I started to feel like a guinea pig. My last doctor suggested it and put me on it. Best decision I have made. If you have severe pain methadone works very well; for me at least.

My wife has had neuropathic face pain for 5 years now. None of the medicines work, and none of the surgeries work, they only make her worse. She has gone everywhere, seen 17 neurologists, seen 3 psychiatrists, and had 2 years of pain management, biofeedback, and 5 acupuncturists. She has lost 75 pounds, and has tried 2 stimulators. I am surprised she is still alive. All doctors have given up! What do we do!

I have constant pain and swelling of my right knee. I had a total knee replacement in July and my doctor was treating me with oxycodone, but a new law has gone into effect stating he cannot treat me longer than 3 months. He feels it would be beneficial for me to continue with the medication but isn't allowed to prescribe it to me any longer.

I have chronic pain in toes and soles of feet - feels like walking on glass all the time. It’s not neuropathy, either peripheral or diabetic. It’s radiculopathy. I have taken ibuprofen and Dilaudid, with no relief. I have had epidural injections and direct pain management injections (steroid/cortisone) into feet 10 plus times with limited results.

我有一个摩托车事故,1984年粉碎部分ured 4 vertebra in my lower back, T12, L2, L4 and 5. I also fractured fingers, jaw and check bones requiring 22 screws and plates to put my face back together. I have had 8 major surgeries on my lumber spine with the last 3 being re-fusions because of broken hardware, screws etc.; the last in 1996 (more plates and screws). I get urinary retention when lower back pain is bad, which was about 1 week out of 6, less muscle tone in my right calf and numbness in my right foot. My main pain is right side sciatica and lower back pain. So I could keep working, I took ever increasing doses of MS-Contin (SR morphine) and Ordine (morphine liquid) for 13 years prescribed by a pain specialist, which was really effective as long as the dose was increased about every 6 months. A year ago I got so sick of planning my life around going to doctors for prescriptions and being treated like an out of control junkie if I had to see another doctor, or be admitted to hospital for another problem and having to explain and prove how much morphine I was taking (600-800mg/day). I went to my doctor and told him I was going to stop and go through withdrawal if it killed me. He told me about a medication called Suboxone, which is used by drug and alcohol centers to get addicts off narcotics. It works similar to morphine, but doesn"t have all of the side effects. I stopped the morphine and 3 days later started the Suboxone, which was increased to 32 mg over about 4 weeks. As well as controlling my pain, I now have my life back. I can taste food again, I feel alert and clear headed, and I’ve lost 18kgs and no more constipation. I also take Arthrotec 75 mg BD, which is an anti-inflammatory medication for arthritis that isn"t as hard on my stomach, and I feel the best I have felt for years. I have owned a bakery for 5 years now and I can now go to work for 8 to 10 hours, 6 days/week and still feel good enough to coach my 6 year old son’s soccer team after work and week-ends, something I haven"t been able to do for years. My wife is so happy to have the old me back. I haven"t had any morphine for 13 months now and I don"t miss it. I would have stopped a long time ago, but I was so afraid of my pain being out of control and the terrible withdrawal symptoms, I couldn"t stop. Every time I asked my doctor about stopping, he said morphine was the only alternative I had for controlling my pain. It wasn"t until I made a stand about stopping that he suggested trying Suboxone. It’s been used in Australia for 2-3 years now as drug to withdraw heroin addicts, so it’s not well known or prescribed as a pain medication. If I had known how addictive morphine was and how it affects your life, I would never have agreed to take it. I have tried not taking the Suboxone for as long as 12 days, with the only side effect being a dramatic increase in my pain after 10 days. My pain is debilitating and it works for me.

I have had chronic pain for a number of years. The neuropathy was so bad, I just wanted to die. I was on 100 mg fentanyl patches as well as 2700 mg of Neurontin. The pain was mostly bearable for 3 weeks out of 4 with no end in sight. During a long hospital stay, I met a doctor who put me on Methadone, along with the Neurontin. I have been given a new lease on life. I have not had to increase the Methadone dosage in 7 years.

I was exposed to toxins for over 3 years and believe it caused neuropathy before I identified the source. At the time I was also exposed to bed bugs and an area with very high allergies. My pain is all in my skin. It causes insomnia, shooting pains, extreme itching and ultra-sensitivity to touch of any kind. I have to sleep with only underwear on, no matter the temperature. Mostly I seldom sleep. The only thing that ever helps is Lyrica, but I can"t afford it, and do not have access to it since I moved from Mexico to USA. I"m also afraid that Lyrica will only mask the problem while it is getting worse, and not cure it. But it does put me to sleep and stop the pain for 12 to 14 hours. I only take it about once a week.

I have been dealing with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) for 13 years. I have very bad burning pain in my left foot and leg, caused from a surgery on foot, I can’t get any doctors to help me where I live and I’m at my wits end. It has taken over my life. I've had chronic back pain for about 10 years. I have taken Norco, Percocet, morphine and oxycodone. The only thing that helps my back pain is Percocet. There is a down side though. It causes my liver enzymes to go way up. So I can no longer take Percocet. My pain doctor has me taking morphine 15 mg 3 times a day which does literally nothing at all. I have told him at my last appointment that the medicines are not doing anything for my back pain. He said he would adjust my medicines. When I got to the pharmacy to pick up my medicines, the pharmacist said the prescription is the same medicine I have been taking; after I told doctor the medicines are not doing anything. I have been taking this morphine 15 mg three times a day for about a month. It just doesn't work. That's the bottom line. So why do doctors keep you on the same medicines after you tell them the meds don't work! I don't understand that. I will be out of medicines for a week before the new prescription can be filled. I take them as prescribed. The original prescription had on it to take medicines twice a day. A nurse from the pain doctor’s office told me to take it 3 times a day so I started taking it 3 times a day. That's what is going to make me run out before the new prescription can be filled. It really doesn't matter because the morphine isn't doing anything for my back pain so what difference does it make! I took the medicines just to show the doctor I am taking it. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

自1995年以来我一直在痛苦中。第一个5年I took non-narcotics. Then in 2000 I started with narcotics. I have fibromyalgia, DDD (degenerative disc disease), DJD (degenerative joint disease), arthritis, CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) and COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). This has not been any fun. My pain gets so bad I want to die. I have been on Oxycontin, probably since 2004. My kids had me change doctors. So every time I have seen the doctors, he says to me, you are not getting more narcotics. Guess what, he took x-rays and found my pain was real. It is from head to toe. He has put me on tramadol 50mg every 6 hours. You talk about sick. I don"t know what to do.

I have been suffering from back pain for over 25 years, I have tried numerous treatments for my back pain, none of them worked effectively. After taking pain killers for over 25 years, I tried a natural pain relief oil from Canada, called Dard Nashak - All Natural Muscle and Joint Pain Relieving Massage Oil. I was surprised at the effectiveness of pain relieving properties of this oil. I used it for 1 month, and I stopped taking pain killers, the results of pain relief was a bit better than pain killers, and pain relief was amazing. I feel good about not taking painkillers and this natural oil replaced them. I fell more refreshed everyday now. I hope this helps some in need of pain relief like me.

I had a transplant for which I am very grateful. What I did not like is my doctor denying that my pain was not real because all the tests they ran could not find what was wrong. But when they opened me up, then they said it was very real and apologized. Great – but don't make me feel crazy. My body lets me know when I'm in pain and I am not willing to let any doctor tell me otherwise. I am not willing to go to really strong meds because I don't want to miss my life. So, I take Lortab and trust my body. It never lies to me. But there are doctors out there who will get you addicted. So, if you have pain, then trust your body. Doctors can't always find what is wrong. By the way – my doctor finally told me it was scar tissue pulling on nerves.

My doctor and the physiatrist I have seen believe I have neuropathic pain. Nothing yet has helped the pain. I have severe, excruciating pain in my buttock on the right and going down my right leg and into my foot. The pain is unbearable when I have it. I also have a feeling of horrible tingling down my entire leg and into my foot. I am on morphine and oxycodone for the other painful conditions I have, i.e. polymyalgia rheumatica and fibromyalgia. They do help with this new neuropathic pain to some degree. I have also just been put on Gabapentin and am slowly titrating it up, right now at 900 mg per day. I am quite miserable and am worried that this will never go away. I have to use a cane to ambulate and I don't like that. I do not know what the next step will be with this.

I have taken various narcotic's, (not OxyContin), methadone, NSAIDS, muscle relaxers, anti-depressants, anti-seizures, hypnotics, and all OTC products. I have been a human pin cushion with Botox, lidocaine, and steroids. I live in Texas and I can remember when the doctor's would make you feel bad for even asking for pain medicine. A lot of them still do. And insurance...I use to spend my whole paycheck on doctors and meds. I am still suffering. I had a car accident 20 years ago, and I am still living with the back pain. I've been taking medication for many, many years. I started to work again, but the pain just got worst. I was seeing a pain management doctor for a couple of years. What was helping was a combination of tramadol and oxycodone. I would take the tramadol six to seven times a day, and the oxycodone two to three times, depending on the pain. At night together with this medication I would take a muscle relaxer Flexeril to be able to sleep at night. In the mornings I would always have to wake up about 5 a.m. to take two tramadol and an oxycodone to be able to get up at 7 a.m. without pain. The mornings are always the worst.

Well, I told 2 pain management doctors that if they found the 1st set of injections did not work, they needed to increase the dosage of the steroid shots on a patient like me for it to work. Doctor says it will stay in your system for 30 days. I have done my research and the one medication put in only lasts in most patients 2 weeks. Cortisone in me does not work at the low dosage that they give me. No one wants to increase the cortisone.

I combat the pain by taking maximum doses of arthritis-strength Tylenol (fortunately, my liver is OK). With the Tylenol, I take one Ultram ER in the morning and one 50 mg Tramadol every three to four hours. Together they make the pain quite a bit more bearable. I must also add that I have a low tolerance for medication (a little goes a long way), and I do not have an addictive personality, therefore these drugs are not habit-forming for me. I have suffered lower back pain for going on 11yrs. The pain varies from severe to tolerable but is never gone. It varies from a snapping, ache pinch when i move, to a pulsing ache when sitting still. It builds in pulsing stages at times as well. Ive had an MRI. The results of which are hypertrophy, a dehydrated bulging disc at L5 which is pushing on the nerve route caused by a fall from a horse in canter. The way I describe my pain at its worst is like having an ever tightening clamp on my spine that has nails inside. The nails are being twisted. Inside the center of the clamp is a red hot poker.

The main things that work best for me are to stretch each morning first, use Norco and vitamins, and regular exercise at the gym. These things help but do not completely eliminate my pain. I have trouble sweeping the floor some days. I have on many different occasions injured myself without resting the injury, which is why I now deal with so many problems. I recently retired from the Army because of chronic back pain. The military doctors gave me a lot of medications that made me dopy, fat, vegetable-like, and they didn't fix any pain. Rather, they made me sit or lie around; you can't get hurt if you never stand up. But I still cannot stand. Get the family together, and I sit with the older folks; I cannot stand for more than 15 or 20 minutes, and I’m only 46. We have a hot tub that is worth its weight in gold! I go to a chiropractor once a week, which keeps me moving. The military healthcare system uses chiropractors very sparingly, so I pay full price out of pocket, no insurance kicks in. I don't want more medications, I can barely see now. I am bigger than anyone in my family has ever been. I don't want to be a vegetable.

Some days I can barley support myself long enough on my hands and wrists just to be able to lay down. Some days I can’t walk from the bedroom to the bathroom in a 1 bedroom house with crying. Then there are days where with my medications I barley hurt. My pain isn't in one spot, and one spot can be very painful while another barley hurts on the same day.

I have constant back pain, cervical, thoracic, lumbar (mostly on right side). I suffer from Hashimoto and hepatitis c virus. I have been given several medications that have not worked. For instance: Fentanyl, several anti-depressants. Nothing seems t be working. Not sure how much more of this I can take. My family is being affected by it greatly.

I have rotator cuff sprain and torn biceps tendon. I cannot take NSAIDS which can be ideal, but when I take them my BP goes up. My Dr. told me no more NSAIDS because the elevated BP indicates kidney malfunction. So actually I haven't found anything that works. The PT helps but I'm still pretty miserable. It is especially bad at night when I lie down.

A neurologist has suggested that nerve blocks may help my pain, and is making a referral to a pain specialist. However, he says there is a risk of paralysis with nerve blocks without explaining why. This has worried me and I cannot find out enough about nerve blocks or surgery or other treatments apart from the common medications.

我有严重的腰痛,疼痛我勒gs. I also have severe knee pain, and the doctors will not operate on the knee, saying I am too young, but I have had three surgeries on my lower back, and still I am in pain. I am currently on Lortab, but that is sparingly, since all the drug-heads around here doctor-shop so much that all the doctors in the area are scared and do not want to prescribe anything that might help.

I got in a car wreck three years ago, and I crushed my pelvis. I have plates and pins all through my pelvis. I crushed my sciatic nerve in my left leg. I have constant pain, and my toes are starting to curl under. I can't even walk without a shoe on. I have a 1-year-old and I can't take certain medications because I can't stay awake with them.

I have constant pain in my hips knees ankles and legs. Most days I can't straighten my legs and they just don't want to support me when I stand. I have now experienced my legs completely not working. My brain was sending the signal, my muscles were trying to react but my legs just would not go. I have electric currents traveling from my lower spine down my legs. I suffer from migraines and nausea from the pain. I get stiff neck causing a migraine and my shoulders hurt. My elbows cramp up. I am at a total loss as to what is wrong with me. I go to the doctor and they look at me like I am insane and they can't tell me what is wrong.
