USES:Fluorouracil is used to treat various types ofcancer. It is achemotherapydrug that is used alone or in combination with other medications to slow or stopcancercell growth.

HOW TO USE:This medication is usually given by injection into a vein by a health care professional. It may also be given by other methods of injection depending upon your medical condition. The dosage is based on your medical condition, body size, and response to therapy.

SIDE EFFECTS:Nausea,vomiting,loss of appetite, dry/itchyskin, skin darkening, and sun sensitivity/sunburnmay occur.Nauseaandvomitingcan be severe. In some cases, drug therapy may be necessary to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting. Not eating before your treatment may help relieve vomiting. Changes indiet如吃ing several small meals or limiting activity may help lessen some of these effects. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.Milddiarrheais also a common side effect. However,diarrheacan infrequently become persistent or severe, causing very serious problems due to a loss of too much body water (dehydration). Tell your doctor immediately if you develop: persistent/severediarrhea, abdominal orstomach pain/cramping, or blood/mucusin your凳子.Temporaryhair lossmay occur. Normal hair growth should return after treatment has ended.Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Hand andfoot problemssometimes occur with fluorouracil use. You can prevent or reduce these problems by protecting your hands andfeetfrom a great deal of heat or pressure. For example, avoid taking hot baths/showers, handwashing dishes with hot water, taking long walks, and rubbing your hands/feet. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop the following symptoms on your hands/feet: redness,peeling skin,blisters,pain, numbness, tingling, or swelling. If you develop these symptoms, consult your doctor for treatment options (e.g., reducing your dose or stopping fluorouracil therapy, applying ice packs to the hands/feet).Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including:headache, mental/情绪变化(e.g.,confusion), vision changes, unusual eye movements, loss of coordination, unusualtiredness.Get medical help right away if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur:easy bruising/bleeding,blood in the urine, black/bloody stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, stomach/abdominal pain,chest pain, jaw/leftarm pain,mouth sores,sore throat, painful swallowing,heartburn,pain/redness/swelling of the arms/legs.This medication can lower the body's ability to fight an infection. Notify your doctor promptly if you develop any signs of an infection such asfever,chillsor persistentsore throat.A very seriousallergic reactionto this drug is unlikely, but get medical help right away if it occurs. Symptoms of a seriousallergicreaction may include:rash,itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severedizziness, troublebreathing.Fluorouracil can commonly cause arash这通常是不严肃了。然而,你可能不be able to tell it apart from a rare rash that could be a sign of a severe reaction. PRECAUTIONS:Before using fluorouracil, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any otherallergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: poornutrition, decreased bone marrow function/blood cell disorders (e.g.,anemia, leukopenia,thrombocytopenia), a certain enzyme deficiency (dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase - DPD), a serious infection,liverproblems, kidney problems.Do not have immunizations/vaccinationswithout the consent of your doctor, and avoid contact with people who have recently received oralpoliovaccine.Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters and avoid activities such as contact sports to lower the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured.Wash your hands well to prevent the spread of infections.This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths, and sunlamps. Use asunscreenand wear protective clothing when outdoors.This medication is not recommended for use duringpregnancy. It may cause harm to an unborn baby. Women of childbearing age and men should use reliable form(s) ofbirth controlduring therapy and for some time afterwards. Consult your doctor for more details.It is not known whether this drug passes intobreast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. MISSED DOSE:For the best possible benefit, it is important to receive each scheduled dose of this medication as directed. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately to establish a new dosing schedule.
