Common side effects of Ammonium lactate include:

  • mild dryness or skin irritation after use; or
  • bruising of discoloration of treated skin.

Serious side effects of Ammonium lactate include:

  • hives,
  • difficult breathing,
  • swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • severe redness or stinging where the medicine was applied.

Rare side effects of Ammonium lactate include:

  • none

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, ortremors.
  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision,tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights.
  • Serious heart symptoms such as fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheartedness, or passing out.

Adult and pediatric dosage

  • Aged above 12 years: Ammonium lactate is usually applied twice a day. Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Cautions

  • Ammonium lactate may be more likely to cause skin irritation in people who have fair or sensitive skin.
  • Do not give this medicine to a child without medical advice.
  • Do not take it by mouth. Ammonium lactate topical is for use only onthe skin. Do not use this medicine on open wounds or on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, or irritated skin. If this medication gets in your eyes, nose, mouth,rectum, orvagina, rinse with water.
  • If the condition worsens with treatment, discontinue therapy promptly
  • Minimize/avoid use in parts of the body that are exposed to natural/artificial sunlight; if sun exposure is unavoidable, wear clothing that will protect the skin

Pregnancy and Lactation

  • It is not known whether ammonium lactate topical will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medication.

Lactation

  • It is not known whether ammonium lactate topical passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby.
