Uveitis: Symptoms & Signs

Uveitisis inflammation of the uvea of the eye. The uvea includes theiris(the visible, colored part of the eye) and two parts behind the iris that cannot be seen, known as the ciliary body and choroid.

Signs and symptoms ofuveitisinclude

飞蚊症(spots seen in the visual field) are another associated symptom of uveitis.

Causes of uveitis

There are many causes of uveitis. Autoimmune disorders (such asrheumatoid arthritis,sarcoidosis,systemic lupus erythematosus,Behçet's disease, andankylosing spondylitis), infections (includingsyphilis,tuberculosis, andtoxoplasmosis), andtraumacan cause uveitis. Some cases are idiopathic, meaning no known cause can be found.
